Peaceful Oasis Amidst City Hustle

Peaceful Oasis in City Hustle?

Waterfront Oasis. Urban Lakeside Retreat. City Energy Meets Peaceful Waterfront. All describe the Omni Las Colinas Hotel. Corporate teams may forget they are a mere 12 miles from Downtown Dallas.

But that's just the way event planners like it. The option to schedule transportation to The Big D is there, but when it's time for attendees to participate in breakouts and tune in to keynote speakers, a quiet space is imperative.

There's more than just the peaceful setting and the luxury people have come to expect from an Omni resort. When orchestrating a corporate event, planners appreciate convenience. And it doesn't get any more convenient than 8.4 miles to DFW International, that is, Airport and 7.6 miles to Love Field. And nevermind the convenience of being DFW's headquarters of headquarters like Kimberly-Clark.

Back to the Omni -

This gem-of-a-hotel is a dreamy one when it comes to corporate photography. Our team appreciates photographing corporate events against luxurious backdrops, like the lawn above. Close your eyes and imagine specialty drinks, bistro lights and a game of croquet. Or maybe just stargazing after a full-day of corporate speak.

Refreshed multimillion-dollar renovations in 2020 and 2025 pay homage to Las Colinas’ founder, Ben Carpenter, by naming its restaurants Flossie’s (after Carpenter’s mother) and LRH Restaurant & Bar (after Little Ranch of the Hills, the original name of the family ranch on what was to become Las Colinas).

In the late 1960s, Carpenter and business partner Dan C. Williams began developing a master-planned commercial and residential community. The project would take 20 years to complete and started with 7,000 acres. Of that land, 3,450 acres would be used for recreation, including Lake Carolyn, a 125-acre man-made lake.

The Omni Las Colinas, 27-story, 421-room hotel, honors Carpenter’s mixed-use foresight.

Those in town for business, will want to invite the family to come along. While Mom or Dad earn those vacation dollars, the kids will appreciate the resort-style pool and 'rents just might like the new Tiki Bar. The Game Lawn (3,000 square feet) and the Event Lawn (13,700 square feet) offer views of Lake Carolyn and wide-open spaces for children to run around and play. Feeling energetic? The lake offers a 2.8-mile loop trail and places to rent a paddleboard or pedal boat. Or let someone else do the work for you and take a gondola ride.

Corporations are often drawn in due to the Omni's abundant meeting spaces. The hotel offers not one, but two ballrooms. One weighing in at 10,650 square feet and the other is still brag worthy at 5,115 square feet. Both ballrooms can be broken into smaller breakout rooms — six and three, respectively — and both have spacious reception areas.

Need even more space for an event? This Omni has an additional 15 conference rooms ranging in size from 415 to 4,518 square feet.

While PBMIsty's may new to the Irving-Las Colinas Chamber, we are so excited to lean in and get to know this abundant business community. Let's not forget the people. Maybe, just maybe, Misty's grandboys, son and daughter-in-law call it home, which gives this area of the metroplex extra kudos.

Fun fact (at PBM, we love fun facts): Valley Ranch and Las Colinas  are both officially in the City of Irving.
