Dear Friend,
Thank you for taking time out of your busy day to see what Photography by Misty
J. Hoyt is all about.
Although photography was not my first choice in careers,
as a journalism major in the 1990s, I found myself taking photography classes,
and loving them. In the professional world, my photos told as much of a story as
my words. Years later, as a stay-at-home-mom, I just couldn’t take enough photos
of my own children, so I joined a Dallas-area children’s photographer. When a
good day was judged by how much fun I’d had capturing a moment in time for
generations to treasure, I knew I had discovered my passion.
While journalism
taught me that everyone is an interesting story, photography has shown me that
everyone is beautiful. There’s something about being behind the camera and the
power of a zoom lens that’s like an invitation to the soul.
Last year at a
festival, a man laughed at me when I told him I thought everyone was beautiful.
In case you don’t know me, I literally cannot tell a lie. So, when he asked
“Even me?” and he was indeed unsightly by society’s standards, I wasn’t quite
sure what to say. I gave myself a second and proceeded with my honest answer,
“Give me an hour behind my camera, and yes, I would find you beautiful, too.”
And I honestly think I would.
He didn’t give me the opportunity, but I would
have thanked him. People thank me for taking their pictures, but I am the one
who is appreciative.
There is no greater artist than the Lord, and there is no
better subject than a human. I am merely the middle man. Nothing is more
beautiful than the love shared between family and friends, and I feel honored to
preserve life’s art for you.
Yours truly,
Misty J. Hoyt
